OCT '02 - Over recent months, various
studies have reported on the apparent 'healthy' benefits
of the good 'ole cuppa. Scientists in the US now believe
that these benefits are so great that we should all be urged
to drink tea.
They
believe that cells in the body, which have been damaged
by sunlight and stress among other things, could be repaired
with the help of antioxidants found in tea. A number of
serious conditions including cancer and heart disease can
stem from damaged cells.
The
tests carried out at the Beltsville Human Nutrition Research
Center in Maryland, entailed volunteers consuming a beverage
that mimicked tea over a three-week period. They were then
given 5 cups of tea a day to drink over the following three-week
period. The results showed an average reduction in the total
level of cholesterol of 6% over the three weeks.
Could
we soon be seeing tea on the 'healthy options' menu? If
your existing drinks machine doesn't stock tea, why not
take a look at what Quench
has to offer?
